Long Term Illness
There are occasions when pupils find themselves absent from school for a prolonged period of time. Long term illness in any family can be a stressful and worrying time, particularly for those pupils about to sit prelims or exams. The school will be able to assist pupils who find themselves affected by this.
Initially, parents should make contact with their child's guidance teacher to discuss the details and, if known, the approximate time the pupil may be absent from school. If appropriate, the guidance teacher can arrange for work to be sent home, ensuring that the pupil does not miss out on class work. However, this is not always practical. In cases where work cannot be completed at home, pupils returning to school after a long absence can attend the support base which allows for one-to-one support before the pupil returns to class. Please feel free to get in touch with the school if you have any concrens regarding your child's absence.
