Guidance Staff
Guidance teachers will help young people to make informed and responsible decisions at key stages throughout their education and to ensure that parents and pupils are aware of the services and support that Paisley Grammar has to offer. Guidance teachers, therefore, are engaged in a number of important tasks in addition to their teaching duties, including:
• Care of new admissions
• Monitoring the academic progress of all pupils
• Advising pupils about course choices
• Keeping track of attendance and timekeeping
• Care of pupils facing difficulties – emotional, physical, academic
• Preparation of reports on pupils – for employers, universities, colleges etc
• Communication with parents – by letter, telephone, interview, meeting
• Links with supporting agencies such as the colleges and universities, careers service, social work department, community organisations etc.
